How to Clean Stainless Steel Cookware

Whether our Stainless Steel is a staple in your cookware collection or you have a couple of reliable pieces, this cleaning guide is a must-read. Based on our experts’ findings, these are the best techniques for cleaning stainless steel, maintaining its shiny finish and keeping it looking new through everyday use.

Clean Your Stainless Steel in Four Easy Steps

Although our Stainless Steel cookware is dishwasher safe, we recommend handwashing for brilliant results. Follow these steps to ensure your pots, pans, and other stainless steel essentials stay mark-free and shine like new.

Allow your cookware to cool

Allow your cookware to cool to room temperature before cleaning. Never plunge a hot pan directly into cold water. Once cooled down, clean up residue as soon as possible. If left for an extended period, it will become increasingly tough to remove and could harm the surface.

Gently scrub in hot, soapy water

In hot, soapy water, gently scrub off all residue with a soft nylon pad, brush, or sponge. For cookware with a non-stick coating, use non-stick cleaning pads. If your pan is uncoated, you can use any gentle cleaning agent.

Soak again if necessary

If there is any stubborn, stuck-on food you couldn’t remove in step 2, fill the casserole or pan with warm, soapy water or baking soda and water. Allow it to soak. You can even put the pan back on the stovetop and boil the water for 10-15 minutes. When the food residue has softened, repeat the second step.

Rinse and dry immediately

Once clean, rinse and dry immediately to prevent water spots. If you happen to notice the presence of water spots, wipe with lemon juice or vinegar to remove spots and bring back shine.

FAQs

#1. Which household cleaner can I use to clean stainless steel cookware?

Gentle cleaners are best for our Stainless Steel cookware. You can also supplement your cleaning agents with pantry staples like baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice. These can be used to remove harsh stains, limescale, and other marks.

#2. How do I make my stainless steel cookware shine again?

To restore shine, apply a water and baking soda mixture to the surface of your stainless steel cookware. This process eliminates the rainbow effect, too, and can be done often without impacting performance or taste. To remove hard water spots, dilute vinegar in water and bring it to a boil, then remove from heat and allow to soak. Avoid overheating and using abrasive detergents in your stainless steel cookware.

#3. What is the best way to clean stainless steel cookware?

Deglazing is the key to easy cleaning. Through this process of adding liquid to a hot pan, you will loosen and dissolve bits of stuck food while creating a rich and tasty sauce. For stainless steel cookware, gentle cleaning is the best approach. Although this material is dishwasher safe, nothing beats handwashing it after every use to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Use a soft, non-metal or non-stick sponge to clean the pan with warm water and a mild dish soap. Don’t use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners that can potentially scratch the surface.
